Haven't gotten it.  Looks nice, but the reviews have been lukewarm at best.  I'm guessing I'll pass, unless someone buys it for me for Christmas. grin

have been playing on xbox360 and it's pretty fun. Requires a pretty highend system and video card on the pc end for those with slower systems.

you can use a kb/mouse with xbox too.. google XCM XFPS 3.0 Sniper Plus. (make sure you buy the XFPS 3.0 Sniper Plus if you buy one)

also.. use a laser mouse pad surface for mousing.. it prevents the deadspots people complain about.

Well, since I just built a core i7 with a gforce 280, i think my system is high end enough.

Hmm....maybe I'll add it to the wishlist, see what I get. grin

Actually, I do a lot of video encoding, so this monster is a big help.

What took 1 hr 45 min on a 3.0Ghz Core 2 Duo took 35 min on this new beast. shocked shocked

My PC is getting a little dated:

3.20 Ghz, 2.0 GB of Ram with a NVIDA GeForce 8600 GT.

It is tolerable.  Maybe it is time build another PC.

Some of the quotes in the game.  Once you get a number kills you can unleash the hounds.

Yup, totally serious.  I'm getting about 3x the fps when converting to x264.  Standard DVDs convert at damn near real time (30fps) and a two hour blu-ray converts at about 15-20fps, depending on the settings I choose.

It          is        a            monster!

Right now I'm converting a 2hr blu-ray movie to a format compatible with my appleTV (1280x720 mp4) and it is estimating 3hr to do the conversion.  For hi-def, that is pretty rocking.

especially since i'm compiling software in cygwin at the same time.... rolleyes

I'll post some stats after the encode finishes.

**Edit**
It took 2hrs 25min to encode from 1080p to 720p (obviously, lower bitrate for appletv than bluray)

anyway, I got distracted by other things, so I'll run the benchmarks tomorrow....

Alright Undertaker, just for kicks, here's the results of an x264 benchmark from http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=520

This is 4 passes of 720p video, using two different versions of x264 (both now outdated).  In each section, the first four lines are pass1, the second, pass2.

Download the benchmark and run it on your comp to see how it compares.  As you'll see, the Core i7 is about 3x faster at roughly the same clock speed.

First, the Core2Duo @ 3.2Ghz:
Code:
Results for x264.exe v0.58.747
encoded 1442 frames, 34.80 fps, 3905.08 kb/s
encoded 1442 frames, 35.42 fps, 3905.08 kb/s
